Yesterday, was an interesting story. Moses encountered God in the wilderness. God told Moses that he had come down to rescue His people, and Moses found out he was the man for the job. But Moses felt inadequate for the task and questioned God.
God told Moses a lot of things in that conversation. He told him who he was: Yahweh. He told him how everything was going to happen and that the elders would believe him, but Moses’s persisted. While I’m reading Exodus chapter 4, pay attention to what God is doing, how He responds to Moses, and what they might teach us about how He is with us.
On the podcast today, we’ll read Exodus 4 Moses goes back to Egypt to tell them the good news that God has seen their suffering and is ready to act.
Reflection Questions
1. What did you observe God doing in this chapter? What does it teach you about who He is?
2. In between Moses and Aaron meeting, there is this weird story about God trying to kill Moses because his son was uncircumcised. If you’ve been with us since Genesis, do you recall what circumcision meant and the punishment for those who were not? Look back at Genesis 17 if you need to. Use these next few minutes to ask God what he might want you to know in light of this passage.
3. Has there ever been a time when your situation seemed hopeless and miserable? Did your struggle seem unseen or unnoticed by God? What does this passage teach us about where God is when He seems far away?
